Having entered college with aims of becoming an environmental journalist, the PitE major allowed me to expand my academic interests beyond writing and reporting. Delving into the natural sciences, I discovered other passions in subjects like biology, geology, ecology and Geographic Information Systems - expanding my knowledge of the physical construction and networks of the earth ultimately heightened the scope of analysis I am now able to apply in writing on these subjects.

 

Although journalism remained an important part of my time as an undergraduate student, both in traditional and editorial form, I am leaving as an aspiring public policy student; as someone who hopes to influence the legal frameworks that dictate the manner in which human beings interact with the planet.
