The Campus Bookworm

I've been writing for a campus publication called SHEI Magazine since the first semester of my freshman year. With only a biannually printed issue, the majority of that writing has been published on the blog component of the magazine.

At first, my posts mainly consisted of concert reviews and other event synopses. This year, I started writing a book review column called "The Campus Bookworm". Click on that green guy on the left to sample some of my reviews.

Class blog:
Minor in Writing

The Minor in Writing Gateway course offered an impressive variety of writing opportunities for its students, one of which was the MIW blog.

Filled with posts from both cohorts of the current gateway course, as well as from students in the capstone course, the blog presented a valuable writing opportunity much different from structured essays and projects.

Class blog:
English 225

This semester, I took an english class centered on creating arguments about food, and a large component of the classwork was writing blog posts.

For each of these posts, we had a specific prompt to follow (search "blog prompt" for details), and had to include some sort of multimodal component. The blog let me explore new ways of communicating ideas online - such as creating GIFs, cartoons, and Prezi's - and it was never boring.

New media writing is something that I've become increasingly interested in over this past year, specifically blogging. On this page you can take a look at some of the blogs that I've contributed to, as well as a few other pieces of academic and extracurricular writing.
